The International Visitor Leadership Program, USA 2007
Invited by the U.S DEPARTMENT OF STATE, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, to the International Visitor Leadership Program on “Breast Cancer Awareness and Community Outreach”. The project supports the U.S - Middle East Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. This official invitation included an unprecedented visit, by any IVLP member, to the White House to meet with the first Lady Mrs. Laura Bush, who was personally interested and supportive to Breast Cancer Awareness Campaigns in the U.S.
The objective of the visit was to exchange success stories and challenges of breast awareness campaigns in the Middle East and the US. The official visit to the White House was followed by a tour to different American States, in order to:
- Discuss the potential of partnerships in breast cancer awareness activities.
- Meet with breast cancer activists and health professionals.
- Explore public and private sector outreach campaigns.
- Share mutual challenges and experiences regarding breast cancer prevention and disease management.
